Day-by-Day Itinerary
Early Morning: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa
Very early, at about 4:30 a.m., your mountain guide and our driver pick you up at your hotel. Our first stop is Mollepata, where we have breakfast before continuing to Soraypampa (3,920 m / 12,860 ft).
At Soraypampa you can see the Sky Camp, set in front of the snow-capped peaks of Salkantay and Humantay. After a short rest, we get ready to start the hike.
Morning: Hike to Humantay Lake
We hike uphill to the highest point of the trail, crossing open landscapes surrounded by mountains. At the top you reach the turquoise Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,780 ft), next to a glacier.
The total walking time is about 4 to 5 hours, and the hike is rated moderate.
Afternoon: Lunch in Soraypampa and Return to Cusco
We hike back down to Soraypampa, where a buffet lunch is waiting. Then our transport takes us back to Cusco, with return at about 5:00 p.m.
